The MDC Alliance's Youth Assembly has since welcomed last Friday's court ruling by Magistrate Bianca Makwande which saw Member of Parliament (MP) and MDC Alliance youth leader, Johanna Mamombe, being "acquitted" as a result of being mentally unstable to stand trial.
Prior to the "acquittal," the youth leader was facing charges related to fake abductions and publicizing falsehoods which she allegedly committed earlier on in May this year.
"As MDC Alliance Youth Assembly, we welcome the ruling by the Magistrate to allow our Secretary for Policy and Research Honorable. Joanna Mamombe to access medical help as per her Constitutional rights.
However, the ruling exposes the state's evil machinations to punish Hon. Mamombe for speaking against her abduction after they had initially locked her for two weeks at Chikurubi.
We demand that Hon. Mamombe get compensation from the state for deliberately condemning her at Chikurubi Maximum Prison after forcefully taking her away from a private facility where she was receiving treatment.
Our youth female leaders have gone through hell at the hands of this misogynistic regime," lamented Stephen Chuma, MDC Alliance's national Youth Assembly spokesperson.
However, it's yet to be seen whether the youth leader will receive a full acquittal or return back to the docks after her two weeks treatment at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals lapses.
