In a unanimous decision, Prince Thuso Dilelihle Moyo, the youthful Ward 7 councillor of Victoria Falls City, has been chosen as the city's new mayor. Joining him in leadership as deputy mayor is Ward 3 Councillor Lungile Nyoni, who also secured his position unopposed.

During the initially scheduled council meeting, nine elected councillors, along with two members representing the Women's Quota Citizens Coalition for Change, were notably absent. They were reportedly engaged in a closed-door session with CCC Matabeleland North chair Mr. Prince Dubeko Sibanda and other prominent city leaders, strategizing for the upcoming election. The opposition party's national leadership had provided directives to the councillors regarding their choice of mayor, causing a disturbance among residents during the previous elective council meeting.

After the meeting resumed, Councillor Moyo and Councillor Nyoni were elected without any opposing candidates, and none of the councillors nominated the preferred candidate put forth by the CCC national leadership.

Councillor Moyo, the youngest member among the council, is embarking on his second term, having been first elected in 2018. He is a product of Mosi-oa-Tunya High School and holds a Diploma in Business Management. Additionally, he serves as the Managing Director of Platform Trading and Fruit and Vegetable Market.

His deputy, Councillor Nyoni, completed his secondary education at Nejambezi and Tsholotsho High Schools. He is currently employed as a host at Shearwater Adventures' Flight of Angels and operates Rush Hour Butcheries, a shop, and a bottle store. Councillor Nyoni, who also holds the position of CCC youth chairman and serves as the party's caretaker in Hwange, has been re-elected for a second term, having first assumed office in 2018.

Councillor Nyoni emphasized his dedication to advocating for youth involvement in all decision-making processes.
