A farm boundary dispute involving the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and retired Colonel Thomas Ngwenya has led to NUST facing charges of malicious damage to property in Plumtree, Matabeleland South. The value of the damaged property is estimated at US$500. NUST is represented by their employee, Nanzelelo Ndlovu (37). The trial was postponed to November 14 after the defense requested more time.
The case involves an incident that occurred between June and July of the current year at Mizpha farm, where NUST employees allegedly damaged a boundary fence belonging to Ngwenya's farm, which shares a boundary with NUST. Ngwenya reported the damage to the police, leading to NUST being taken to court.
Initially, Ngwenya had filed charges against the individuals responsible for breaking his fence, but the case later shifted to NUST as the accused. Ngwenya retired from the Zimbabwe National Army in 1990 and subsequently engaged in contract work with the United Nations, where he served in Iraq, overseeing logistics. He holds several medals, including the Independence and Outstanding Performance During the Liberation Struggle medals.
