The Government has condemned what it describes as "reactionary and unmerited polemic sentiment" from a small faction of war veterans, accusing them of undermining President Emmerson Mnangagwa's integrity and disregarding revolutionary discipline.

In a statement issued last night, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere specifically called out Blessed Geza for what he termed an "unwarranted show of hypocrisy."

Dr. Muswere expressed disappointment over Geza's recent remarks, questioning his motives for criticising the President despite previously supporting his leadership.

"It is unfortunate that these individuals have played to the whims of demonising the President for reasons best known to them," said Dr. Muswere.

He highlighted that Geza was among the delegates at the 21st National People's Conference who pushed for Resolution Number 1, which sought to extend President Mnangagwa's tenure until 2030.

"Therefore, it is surprising that today he is turning his back against a resolution he helped create. It is unfortunate that the bitterness he suffered from the 2018 primary election defeat is now causing him to go as far as rewriting the history of the President," he added.

Dr. Muswere reiterated that President Mnangagwa's administration has been instrumental in recognising and improving the welfare of war veterans, in line with Section 84 of the Constitution.

"The Second Republic, under the revolutionary leadership of President Mnangagwa, has championed deliberate welfare support for the veterans of the liberation struggle," he said.

He pointed to the establishment of a dedicated ministry for war veterans and the formation of a War Veterans' Wing within ZANU-PF as evidence of the President's commitment to their cause.

"For the first time, four decades after independence, veterans of the liberation struggle have a dedicated structure within the ruling party, ensuring their total inclusion and participation in the economy," said Dr. Muswere.

The minister urged disgruntled war veterans to use proper party and government structures to air their grievances rather than resorting to public criticism.

"This charade is very disappointing considering the magnitude of economic transformation that Zimbabwe has enjoyed under the leadership of President Mnangagwa," he stated.

The Government's response signals a firm stance against dissent within the ruling party, particularly among war veterans who have historically played a key role in Zimbabwe's political landscape.
