Former Dynamos chairman and prominent businessman Rafik Adam was left bloodied after a brazen armed robbery at his offices in central Harare yesterday morning. Four armed men disguised as clients struck at around 10 a.m. along Cameroon Street in the Harare Central Business District, making off with US$500,000.

Adam, a well-known figure in Zimbabwean football who also served as Warriors team manager during the Dream Team era, was attacked during the raid. Sources say the robbers appeared to have conducted detailed surveillance, exploiting Adam's routine office activities, which include collecting rental payments from tenants.

"It looks like they had inside information about when Mr Adam would be at the office and when large sums of money would be on site," said a local eyewitness. "They posed as people coming to pay their rents, which is a common occurrence here, then struck swiftly."

According to witnesses, the robbery was executed smoothly and quickly, with the robbers disappearing into the crowd before police could be alerted. A crowd gathered after Adam emerged from the office bleeding and calling for help.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying investigations are underway. "The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms an armed robbery involving US$500,000 occurred this morning along Cameroon Street, Harare CBD. Four armed robbers were involved. More details will be released as investigations progress," said Commissioner Nyathi.

Witnesses noted that the robbers did not wear masks, and their faces were likely captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which could assist the investigation.

In a related armed robbery incident, Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza reported a separate case in Mt Pleasant, where three armed men robbed a family of US$13,000 at the home of a director of the Road Angels company.

The robbers, armed with a pistol, a knobkerrie, and a spanner, tied up the complainant and demanded money, taking 2,000 South African Rands from a wardrobe before fleeing.

Both incidents have heightened concerns about rising armed robberies in the capital, with police ramping up efforts to apprehend the suspects.\
