BINDURA - Two suspected drug dealers have appeared in court after detectives recovered a large cache of dangerous drugs at their residence.
Angeline Matesanwa and Pamela Chamanyonga appeared before the Bindura Magistrates Court yesterday facing two counts of dealing in dangerous drugs and an additional charge of illegally possessing addictive cough syrups.
The state alleged that detectives from CID Bindura received a tip-off that the duo was involved in drug dealing and had recently received a consignment. Acting on the information, police raided their home and recovered:
- 5.3kg of packaged dagga
- 431 sachets of crystal meth plus two larger sachets weighing 600g
- 225 bottles of Broncleer
- 31 bottles of Benyline
- 10 bottles of Stilpaine
- 36 bottles of Astrapain cough syrup
- Approximately 60 cigarette lighters stashed with the drugs
The court heard that the recovery was not without drama, as the accused initially refused to open their house for detectives. They only complied after reinforcements from ZRP Chiwaridzo and the Dogs Section arrived.
While admitting the drugs were recovered from their home, the accused claimed they were unaware of their presence. They also told the court they delayed opening the door because they feared the police were thieves.
The trial continues on 18 December 2025.
