United Kingdom-based socialite and businesswoman Olinda Chapel has issued a public apology following allegations of cyberbullying against Dyonne Tafirenyika and the latter's child. The apology comes after Chapel appeared in a Harare court over the incident and is scheduled to return for routine remand.

Chapel admitted that her actions were harmful, disrespectful, and unjustified. She acknowledged using "demeaning and insulting language," speaking about Tafirenyika in a "degrading manner," and spreading "false and misleading information" that damaged her reputation.

"Most seriously, I crossed an unforgivable boundary by involving Dyonne's child," Chapel said. "I made statements and took actions that attempted to interfere with Dyonne's relationship with their child, including trying to control or influence how her child appeared on social media and suggesting that her child should be kept away from her. This was wrong on every level."

She also admitted to posting content involving Tafirenyika online without consent, further violating her privacy and escalating the situation. Chapel expressed remorse for the emotional, psychological, and reputational impact her actions had on Tafirenyika, her child, and their family.

Chapel extended her apology to Kelsea Tafirenyika as well, admitting she used offensive and disrespectful language, including swearing and name-calling, and emphasised that there was no justification for her behaviour.

"I am sincerely sorry to Dyonne for the pain, stress, fear, and emotional distress my actions may have caused," Chapel said. "I also apologise to her child and loved ones who were impacted by my behavior." She urged that the matter serve as a lesson, stressing that "words have consequences."

Chapel also sought to clarify that the conflict was never about a man, rejecting any false narratives linking the dispute to a third party.

She appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo on Wednesday, where she was released on US$100 bail. Conditions of her bail include not interfering with State witnesses, surrendering her passport, and reporting every fortnight at Borrowdale Police Station. Chapel is expected back in court on January 16, 2026.

The case has reignited public discourse around social media conduct, privacy, and the legal consequences of cyberbullying, particularly when children are involved.
