A total of 716 A-Level candidates in Manicaland have scored 15 points or better in the November 2025 ZIMSEC examinations, with four students achieving a perfect 35 points, marking a remarkable display of academic excellence.

Mutare's First Class Academy produced the highest number of top scorers, with 51 students reaching the 15-point mark, followed closely by St Augustine's High School, whose Science Department recorded four students with the maximum 35 points and 50 learners attaining 15 points or more.

Other high-performing schools in the province include St David's Bonda Girls' High with 47 candidates, Kriste Mambo in Makoni with 40, and Mt Selinda High School in Chipinge with 32 candidates achieving 15 points or better. Gaza High School and Sakubva 1 High School recorded 31 and 29 students respectively.

However, St Faith's High School in Makoni experienced a sharp decline, producing only 27 candidates with 15 points or better, down from 65 the previous year. The drop has been attributed to administrative disputes, over-enrolment, and disruptions in the sciences department, particularly Physics.

Makumbe Mission in Buhera and St Dominic's High School in Mutare each produced 22 candidates with 15 points or above, rounding out the top ten schools in the province.

Manicaland Provincial Education Director, Mr Richard Gabaza, lauded the performance of schools across both urban and marginalised rural areas.

"Wonderful performance. Even schools in remote areas did exceptionally well. The number of schools and candidates with at least 15 points has increased compared to the previous year," said Mr Gabaza.

First Class Academy Director-General, Mr Stephen Mutsongodza, credited the school's success to a culture of mentorship, disciplined teaching, and holistic learner development.

"Excellence is not accidental. It is the result of consistent effort, discipline, and belief that you can achieve greatness regardless of where you come from," he said.

Anglican Diocese of Manicaland Education Secretary, Reverend Edmund Samutereko, highlighted St Augustine's High and St David's Bonda Girls High as the top-performing mission schools while cautioning that disputes at St Faith's High had negatively affected performance.

The provincial results underscore the dedication of students, teachers, school authorities, and parents in promoting quality education and fostering a culture of academic excellence across Manicaland.
