President Emmerson Mnangagwa's special investment adviser, Paul Tungwarara, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the President's ambition for Zimbabwe to achieve upper-middle-income status by 2030.
Tungwarara was present at the Rusununguko Branch in Ward 6 during the Gaza primary cell verification exercise, where he is a registered voter. The exercise focused on strengthening grassroots structures through intensified membership recruitment and updating the party's database.
Arriving discreetly alongside Zanu-PF provincial chairperson Tawanda Mukodza and Chipinge district coordinating committee chairperson Temba Munayiwa, Tungwarara initially declined to speak to the media, saying, "Remember, this is not the day to speak to the Press. I have just come to check my name in my ward or cell."
Later, he addressed journalists, highlighting his ongoing empowerment projects. "The empowerment is still ongoing. It has not stopped; it's just that the leadership and the commissariat department want proper structures," Tungwarara explained. "People were collecting money without proper records of how it was being used. We must have a proper structure. Once done, you will see improvement; our secretary-general of the party is putting proper structures in place."
Responding to social media criticism, Tungwarara said, "I don't have time to respond to social media, but if you are not being attacked, you are not doing anything. They may appear to attack me, but they are attacking vision 2030. Let's stay focused and support the vision. Manicaland, let's remain united and support President Mnangagwa. Be wise against those who use divide-and-rule methods."
Provincial chairperson Mukodza praised members for their participation despite busy schedules. "I am happy with the turnout. Those who did not attend had genuine reasons such as funerals or work. This important event helped us to gauge the grassroots support base, which remains strong for our colossus party, Zanu-PF," he said.
The exercise is part of Zanu-PF's ongoing efforts to strengthen party structures and ensure broad-based support ahead of future political and development initiatives.
