President Emmerson Mnangagwa today presided over the first Cabinet meeting of the year at the Munhumutapa Offices in Harare, urging ministers to intensify efforts to improve the livelihoods of Zimbabweans.

Addressing Cabinet, the President called on ministers to remain focused and prepared to undertake tasks that deliver tangible results for citizens.

He commended members of Cabinet who reported for duty during the festive break when required, saying their commitment reflected a growing culture of accountability within Government.

"The culture of results is now an embedded part of who we are," President Mnangagwa said.

The President stressed the need to sustain the country's economic growth momentum under the Second Republic, noting that further expansion is anticipated following the recent launch of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

"It is imperative that Cabinet focuses on the country's growth and development," he said.

President Mnangagwa added that the execution of duties and responsibilities must reflect the maturity and seriousness expected of Cabinet members.

"Our approach to the execution of duties and responsibilities must reflect the maturity of members," he said.

The meeting set the tone for Government's policy priorities and implementation agenda for the year ahead.
