The body of late vocal war veterans' leader Blessed "Bombshell" Geza arrived in Zimbabwe early this morning, crossing through the Beitbridge Border Post at around 5am.

Geza's remains later proceeded to Masvingo shortly after 6am before following a designated route to Harare and ultimately to his rural homestead in Sanyati, Mashonaland West province, where he will be laid to rest.

Family members and supporters gathered along parts of the route to pay their respects to the outspoken former liberation war fighter, whose death has sparked renewed debate over his legacy.

Geza, who was a prominent and often fiery voice within the war veterans' movement, made headlines in recent years following a bitter political fallout with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

His passing has triggered discussion over whether he should be accorded national hero status. While some argue that his liberation war credentials and long-standing activism merit the honour, others contend that his public criticism of the current administration complicates the matter.

Under Zimbabwe's system, national hero status is conferred by the ruling party and burial takes place at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

As of this morning, there has been no official announcement regarding his hero status.

Geza is expected to be buried at his Sanyati homestead, with funeral arrangements continuing as family, comrades and supporters prepare to bid farewell to a man whose political life remained as controversial as it was influential.
