Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) proportional representation legislator for Manicaland, Samantha Mureyani, has collected a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.8 GD6 and US$50,000 in cash from businessman Wicknell Chivayo, days after she publicly supported the controversial Constitution Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) in Parliament.

The vehicle was handed over through Exquisite Motors, following a pledge made by Chivayo after Mureyani's contribution during the National Assembly debate on the proposed constitutional changes.

During the debate, Mureyani backed provisions seeking to extend the presidential term from five to seven years, arguing that longer terms would provide sufficient time for governments to implement major development programmes.

She said five years was often inadequate for large-scale projects to be completed and for their benefits to be fully realised.

Speaking after receiving the vehicle, Mureyani expressed gratitude to Chivayo, whom she referred to as the "Ancient of Days," a title the businessman has publicly embraced despite debate over its religious significance within Christian theology.

"I am grateful for the gift I have received from Sir Wicknell Chivayo, the Ancient of Days. He saw it fit to bless me with a vehicle," said Mureyani.

"Sir Wicknell heard a voice that spoke to him. Although other little voices followed, Sir Wicknell, as the Ancient of Days, chose to disregard them and rely on the discernment he received from that voice. I am also thankful for the support towards the Constituency Development Fund."

Mureyani becomes the second CCC legislator to receive a vehicle and cash donation from Chivayo.

Earlier, Budiriro North legislator Susan Matsunga received a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 2.4 GD6 together with US$50,000 earmarked for community development projects and programmes aimed at empowering women and young people in her constituency.

The donations have attracted significant public attention because they coincide with ongoing parliamentary deliberations on CAB3, which seeks to amend several provisions of the Constitution, including extending the terms of elected officials.

Last week, Chivayo also pledged a vehicle and US$50,000 to Zanu PF legislator Remigious Matangira after he supported the constitutional amendments in Parliament.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Chivayo instructed Matangira to collect a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.8 GD6 and US$50,000 from his representatives.

The donations have fuelled debate across Zimbabwe's political landscape, with critics questioning the timing of the gifts while supporters argue that Chivayo is free to support individuals and community initiatives of his choice.

The developments come as Parliament prepares for critical votes on CAB3, one of the most contentious constitutional reform proposals since the adoption of the 2013 Constitution.
