There is need to reconstruct MDC of 1999, says Bajila

Those who signed alliance with Mujuru are the ones who suggested MDC not to challenge Jonathan Moyo in Tsholotsho
An MDC official Discent Collins Bajila has said he has no doubt that it is the same people who have recently signed an alliance with Joice Mujuru who previously made it possible for MDC-T not to field a candidate against Prof Jonathan Moyo in Tsholotsho North in 2008 when he was an Independent.
He said they now see it more strategic to form an Alliance with Joyce Mujuru's NPP than with those who have been in opposition ranks for long.
"In 2008 MDC-T fielded Candidates in 208/210 Constituencies. In some constituencies, particularly in Midlands where they had Masowe and Jatropha factions, they fielded up to 3 Candidates in one Constituency. However, when it came to Tsholotsho North and South, all factions converged and agreed not to field a Candidate but publicly support Independent Prof Jonathan Moyo," Bajila said.
"It was said to be a strategic move. Today, we are told that an Alliance that is strategic should have Joyce Mujuru by any means necessary. We are told that Mujuru brings with her key information about how ZANU PF rigs elections. This is despite the fact that Mujuru has repeatedly denied knowing anything about rigging."
He said coincidentally, those who are convinced that there is someone out there with information about how ZANU PF rigs elections, once believed that Douglas Mwonzora was about to publish a dossier on the operations of Nikuv. The dossier is still dololo.
"As Rebecca Malope would say "Asibatshayeleni izandla". In my view, there is need to: As much as possible reconstruct the MDC of 1999 in letter and in spirit. Re-ignite the romantic relationship between that MDC and Civil Society and give civil society decision making stake and oversight roles in the processes of the MDC. Create a stake for liberation stalwarts to be able to influence the life of the organisation rather than creating enmity with them or making them superior," he said.
"Emphasise on generational mix in leadership at all levels."
