Beggars should still be choosers: Chamisa's wicked deal with the Mugabe devil

The court decision hit the young usurper like a smack in the face. Friends in the MDC who had cautiously been supporting Chamisa (mainly because their preferred candidate Khupe had been violently removed), were perturbed, yet unsurprised. The fact that Chamisa had no more of a right (or even less of a right) to carry the MDC colours, logo and name was obvious for all to see.
But when the court decided that Chamisa now owes Khupe up to 1.8 million US dollars, worry turned to clarity. Just one day earlier it had been rumoured that Chamisa had made a deal for 2 million US dollars from none other than the Mugabe power couple. While the location of the agreement is irrelevant (it could well be that Chamisa has never been to Dubai), the coincidence regarding the sums is all too obvious to deny.
But the fact the numbers of this scandal add up is merely the final piece of a heartbreaking jigsaw for MDC supporters across the country. Let us not forget that long before we were talking about the 2 million dollars, Mugabe's party the NPF had officially endorsed Chamisa. We will never forget the appearance of G40 stalwarts at Chamisa's rallies, and even helping him launch his manifesto. We can never forget that despicable line where Nelson Chamisa actually said, "While I will not allow Grace to be my VP, she is of course welcome to join the party."
So while the money business is not funny business, it is the final nail in the coffin of what was once a real opposition movement. By doing a deal with the Mugabe devil, Chamisa has spat in the face of what the MDC has fought for; change, hope and a free Zimbabwe. It is the equivalent of Barack Obama doing a deal with Dick Cheney or George W Bush in his attempt to defeat McCain. Either you stand for change Mr. Chamisa, or you don't.
These deals with Grace and RGM show clearly that far from being the agent of change, he is actually letting the old guard right back in.
At this time in our transition we must be very clear in our choice. We have a leader calling for real change, supporting women, supporting the youth, calling for peace, love and unity at every juncture. That however is no longer the MDC candidate. Amazingly, it is ED.
The leader who encourages violence, ridicules women and takes the youth vote for granted, is actually lending a hand to Grace and RGM. The role reversal in this political game is real and petrifying. Many of my young colleagues have been blinded by the charisma of the young pretender. They cannot see the facts before their very eyes. I call on them to wake up.
I call on them to vote for the leadership which has rid us all of the evil dictator and his dangerous spouse. Vote for the leadership which is bringing in investment, creating jobs, and opening up our country. Vote for the leadership which most importantly is keeping Grace and her G40 far away from the government and its coffers. I don't believe Chamisa is a bad person. However, I do believe that his naivety and raw thirst for power has taken the MDC totally in the wrong direction. He ignored the democratic ethos and history of the party, and he has chose the path of violence and Mugabism.
So while he may be broke and desperate for cash. There is no excuse for this wicked deal with the devil. For this, he must be punished at the ballot box.
