In their time NSSA pensioners kept the economy going
30 Apr 2019 at 07:51hrs | Views
The Hon. Minister of Labour and Social Welfare is said to have confirmed a periodic upward review of civil servants salaries to cushion them against rising prices of goods and services.
Dr Sekai Nzenza happens to be 'the hope' of NSSA pensioners who are 'sobbing for a living pension payout'.
Are these NSSA pensioners supposed to be an after thought when all is said and done? Are these pensioners not our parents and grand parents some of whom are looking after hordes of opharned grand children? Did they not work hard to keep Zimbabwe moving, why then are we 'starving' them?
In all other sectors of the economy workers are being 'given an ear', why are NSSA pensioners getting a raw deal?
Prices have shot through the roof leaving the poor pensioners going about hungry. OTC (over the counter) pain-killers are now too expensive for the elderly constituency, remember these are sick old people. Have we become so insensitive to the plight of the grey haired?
Are they not the fountain of wisdom and custodians of our customs and traditions? A cultural oversight may not bring good tidings to the nation.
NSSA pensioners deserve more, pay them more. Otherwise, it would be a better idea to put these pensioners in care homes where neglect can quickly attract attention from the public eye.
