President Morgan Tsvangirai is very serious about uniting the Party so that we focus on the big job ahead.
There must be total reconciliation in the Party for us to achieve our objectives. Our principal political goal is to deliver the people of Zimbabwe from the extreme poverty and misery that they are wallowing in.
Thus after deep discussions in our Standing Committee our leadership found each other and went on to announce the internal truce. Of course there are people who may be slow to appreciate the importance of this move by our leaders.
Only time will prove the historic significance of this statesmanlike move by President Tsvangirai and the leadership. Zimbabwe is going down the precipice and we must catch it before it hits the bottom and disintegrates.
The civil servants had their pay days deferred because the government had no money to pay them. One million poor children are out of school because the BEAM fund was looted by Zanu PF. 40% of the children in Zimbabwe's hospitals are suffering from kwashiorkor.
Unemployment has hit unprecedented levels with graduates from our universities and colleges resorting doing menial and humiliating jobs that they were hardly trained for. Most families in Zimbabwe now don't even know where their next meal is going to come from.
Corruption on the party of Zanu PF officials and ministers continues to go unpunished. The government is showing no urgency at all in aligning the country's laws to the new constitution. There are therefore many issues that require the attention of the MDC as a united Party.
We are excited that the next few weeks will see over 30 leaders of one of the political parties coming to join hands with us. Faced with the unity of purpose in the MDC, Zanu PF and the state agents are are now busy trying to undermine the Party unity in the MDC.
We are determined to make sure that the efforts by President Tsvangirai to unite the Party bear fruit.
Victory is Certain!
