Filabusi, Silalatshani need upgrading

Editor,
Something needs to be done in Silalatshani as the society here has suffered a lot.
People are buying food every year as there are very little rains in that place.
They try by all means to do farming, unfortunately it ends up as the worst of time as that place has little rains.
Only those who have pieces of land in Silalatshane irrigation scheme can manage to harvest better products as water will be supplied from the dam, although last year it was a worst year as Silalatshane dam had little water that couldn't supply the whole irrigation and this affected the farmers as they failed to plant maize.
I think government should consider helping the society by opening co-operatives where people can help themselves by doing different businesses and government should help the society by drilling many boreholes, for example, people in Mganwini area under Chief Sibasa walk four kilometres in search of water of which they are drinking water coming direct from Silalatshani dam flowing through the canal.
Dam water is not safe as it is not treated, that is why people of that area get bilharzia.
Some people carry 20 litres of water on their heads, yet others push 40 litres on wheelbarrows walking such distances.
It becomes a torture to the children who go to school.
They don't have much time to read as they spend their time in search of water.
The other problem is the secondary school which is far away.
Some children walk almost 10km, if not more, to attend their lessons at Singwango secondary school.
Children from Nyamime, Zhampali, Zhukwe and Ntunte only to get to school already tired.
This is affecting children in their studies.
If more schools are built and boreholes drilled the community will be saved.
