Well Taylored future for Wesley Madhevhere

The Chevrons are currently on tour in Rawalpindi in Pakistan and a lot has been anticipated from their outing. On the 30th of October 2020 Pakistan played host to its first ODI of the year with Babar Azam expectant of a huge win over the Chevrons. Of interest is the debate amongst the local cricket lovers on the selected squad, with the majority disregarding the elimination of Tymicen Maruma from the squad but an unwavering approval has been aired for the inclusion of Wesley Madhevere and Milton Shumba.
After the Covid-19 induced break that only left the local cricket fratenity in limbo for seven months wondering whether the unifying sport will ever come back, the Match Day dawned in Rawalpindi with nothing but fireworks.
"We are desperate to with," Insisted Captain Chamu Chibhabha on pre-match interview. He said, "Over the years we've been a team that doesn't really quite get over the line and it's something that we have talked about in our camp. In the squad, there's a lot more desperation to win and that's the mentality at the moment."
Never-the-less, our boys did manage to get over the line but the show they put up is worth mention. After bad ending to a fairly average bowling that saw Carl Mumba being plundered 69 runs for one wicket and Blessing Muzarabani returning back to international scene with bowlinv figures of (9-0-39-2), the bating was equally a rolla-costa of session for the Chevrons.
Pakistan managed to post a target of 281/8 with Haris Sohail 71(82) and Imam-ul-Haq 58(75) leading the scorers. On paper the target seemed to be insurmountable for a normal Chevrons fan, but for today Brandon Taylor had other plans. After losing Brian Chari and Captain Chibhabha through, we could all guess that the same fashion of recursion was to be simulated through out the inning but Craig Ervine 41(68) and Brandon Taylor steadied the ship to the shores of hope.
Ervine and Williams succumbed to Imad Wasim and Wahab Riaz's bowling leading to the introduction of Wesley Madhevere. Sluggishly the boy walked to assume the other end and partner the man of the day Brandon Taylor, Madhevere could be seen smiling from the rails of his helmet as he got on the crease mentorship council from Taylor. The boy has grown to a man, his knocks suggested so as he bossed Wahab Riaz with pull shot and Faheem Ashraf with well culculated sweeps.
Unfortunately a lapse in concentration got him back to the dressing room by Riaz's beauty at 55(61) opening up to an overflow recursion and the decimation of the lower order.
It is Madhevere's fourth match and a second half century was registered in his name defying all odds. After receiving the Man of the Match, Taylor said, "He (Wesley Madhevere) is a new kid on the block, he's 20 years old, bowls well, bats well, incredible fielder, bright future and lovely kid as well." Surely the future is bright and its high time we start hastening that bright future by introducing the likes of Milton Shumba and Ryan Burl to take up the bat and the ball for it is better to loss fighting with young blood than loss fighting with old and failed soldiers.
