Former Highlanders Chief Executive Officer, Brian Busani Moyo, appeared before Bulawayo Provincial Magistrate Richard Ramaboea on Monday afternoon and was found guilty of defrauding the club of US$2,000.

Moyo's bail was not revoked, and he was remanded to appear tomorrow for sentencing. He was represented in court by Victor Kucherema and Thamani Ncube of Wallace Law Chambers.

The case revolves around the transfer of two players from Bulawayo Chiefs FC to Highlanders FC in December 2024 — striker Never Rauzhi and midfielder Malvern Hativagoni. Initial negotiations pegged Rauzhi's transfer fee at US$25,000 and Hativagoni's loan at US$15,000, but the deal initially collapsed after Moyo allegedly attempted to renegotiate the fees.

Weeks later, discussions were reopened by former Bulawayo Chiefs administrator Mandigora, and the clubs agreed on US$13,000 for Rauzhi and US$1,000 for Hativagoni. Court papers show that Highlanders' executive authorized the payment, which required dual signatures for withdrawals.

Mandigora, who has already pleaded guilty to fraud and been sentenced, admitted that he collaborated with Moyo to inflate the transaction. The court heard that Highlanders were led to believe the transfer cost US$23,000, while Bulawayo Chiefs were told it was US$18,000. The US$5,000 difference was allegedly split between the two, with Mandigora receiving US$3,000 and Moyo US$2,000.
