Regional airlines have continued showing confidence in Zimbabwe as a safe travel destination with East African airline, Kenya Airways, increasing its flight frequency to Harare from 14 to 19 times a week.

The airline will begin operating 17 passenger flights per week and 2 cargo flights starting from the 28th of October in an effort to facilitate smooth travel to Zimbabwean travellers.

It has also filled the void left by the departure of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, by introducing flights on the Harare to Amsterdam route via Nairobi.

The airline country manager Mr Dominic Abwavo said the move is an expression of confidence in Zimbabwe's economic recovery and the country's tourism industry.

The airline's increase in flight frequency comes at a time when at least 10 airlines have been licenced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe in the last three months to operate on the Zimbabwe route.

Government has progressively liberalised the air transport market in order to improve destination connectivity by allowing airlines to operate.
