Zanu-PF MP 'hijacks' Buhlungu Sikhosana's private event

Villagers in Matabeleland North province have accused Zanu-PF legislator for Nkayi South Stars Mathe of hijacking the official opening of maskandi musician Cleopas Buhlungu Sikhosana's homestead for political gain.
The villagers accused Mathe of wanting to use the event for campaign purposes.
In 2021, Sikhosana's fans and well-wishers raised funds to build a modern home for the musician.
Mathe is said to have organised the opening ceremony of the singer's homestead set for this Friday much to the chagrin of those that sponsored the project.
Villagers told NewsDay Life & Style that Mathe's move was not called for.
"We heard that Mathe has donated a cow and beer for the function. Where was she when people were donating towards the construction of the home? Is this what Sikhosana needs right now? Was it necessary for her to throw such a big party for the launch of the home that she doesn't know how it was constructed," said a villager, who preferred to remain anonymous.
"Those that were at the forefront of mobilising resources are now being sidelined. We have unresolved challenges in Nkayi that need attention. The MP is busy wasting money on beer while roads are littered with potholes and people are starving. We know he is politicking."
Contacted for Mathe, said she had contributed towards Sikhosana's music career and should not be barred from officiating at his homestead's grand opening.
"In response to those who are saying I am using this function as a campaign strategy, I am saying that whoever donated to Sikhosana actually assisted me. He is where he is because of me," the legislator said.
"He (singer) actually composed a song about me. This shows my relationship with him. We have come a long way. I am so grateful to those who donated towards the construction of this homestead. However, I am still appealing for more donations."
"As long as I am still the MP, I will do what I want. I have already donated food for the party, a cow, two drums of traditional beer, 50kg of samp, 50kg of mealie-meal and many more," she
said.
Sikhosana's manager Madlela Sikhobokhobo declined to comment on the matter.
