Hunt for new CEO further divides Bosso hierarchy

THE hunt for the new Highlanders Football Club chief executive officer has reportedly further divided Bosso decision makers who are said to be at loggerheads over the final appointment.
Last Monday, Highlanders conducted interviews where four candidates were given the opportunity to convince members of the Bosso's human resources committee that they had what it takes to be the head of secretariat at one of the country's biggest football clubs.
Interviewed on the day were the acting CEO Ronald Moyo, former Highlanders player Sikhumbuzo Ndebele, Prosper Ncube and Pilate Mahlangu. Highly placed sources have indicated that Ncube came out as the top candidate in the interview process, with the panel of five in total agreement that the former Ingwebu Breweries marketing and sales manager should have his name seconded to the executive committee for final decision.
Seeing that three of the executive committee members, vice-chairman Fiso Siziba, secretary Morgen "Gazza" Dube and treasurer Busani Mthombeni were part of the interviewing panel, appointment of the next Bosso CEO was expected to be a mere formality.
However, no conclusion was done by the Johnfat Sibanda led executive which met the day after the interviews.
While there is agreement that Ncube was the top candidate, according to sources, there are some who are hell-bent to have Moyo appointed to fill the post that was left vacant when Nhlanhla Dube's contract expired at the end of 2021. Moyo is Bosso's substantive media and communication officer.
"There are some in the Highlanders leadership who want the acting CEO Ronald Moyo appointed ahead of Prosper Ncube who was the top candidate. A number of excuses are being brought forward like we don't want to lose him (Moyo), but he already has a substantive position at the club which he will revert to if he is not appointed CEO,'' said the source.
Highlanders are said to have carried out a background check on Ncube. While this is normal, for those who do not want him, it was conducted with the hope that they will find "dirt" on the prospective CEO so as to have reasons for not appointing him as the club's head of secretariat. However, it appears nothing adverse came out about Ncube from his references, inside sources said.
Morgan Dube, who has been speaking to the media all along on the process of finding the CEO referred all questions to Cosmos Sikhosana who chaired the interviewing panel as the chairman of the human resources committee. Sikhosana also referred this reporter back to Morgan Dube who said the former is the one who can speak on the process as the chairman of the HR committee.
It is expected that a final decision will be made tomorrow at a joint sitting of the executive committee and board of directors.
According to the Highlanders constitution, the Bosso executive committee appoints the CEO in consultation with the board of directors.
