Vice President Kembo Mohadi expressed that President Mnangagwa has achieved remarkable strides in promoting socio-economic development and has paved the way for the nation to swiftly reach its Vision 2030 objectives through transformative projects that directly impact people's lives.
VP Mohadi, who also serves as the Zanu-PF Second Secretary, highlighted that the Second Republic has charted a path to prosperity for Zimbabwe through significant endeavors in critical sectors such as infrastructure development, mining, and agriculture.
He emphasized that the ruling party did not require collaboration with other political entities in the government, as doing so could disrupt the socio-economic progress established by President Mnangagwa over the past five years.
VP Mohadi conveyed these sentiments to Zanu-PF supporters at Chivake Primary School in Gutu West during the official campaign launch for John Paradza, the Zanu-PF candidate in the upcoming parliamentary by-election scheduled for November 11. This by-election follows the suspension of the Gutu West legislator election on August 23, prompted by the passing of one of the candidates, Mr. Christopher Mutonho.
The Vice President dismissed any notions of Zanu-PF entering into a Government of National Unity (GNU) with the opposition, asserting that such an arrangement was not on the horizon. He stressed the commitment to continue uninterrupted with the nation's development initiatives, which include the construction of dams, roads, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
He further clarified that they had no intention of collaborating with individuals or groups that could impede their progress and goals, remaining steadfast in their pursuit of transforming the lives of the Zimbabwean people.
Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa in the Second Republic, Zimbabwe has implemented several significant projects throughout the country, aligning with the philosophy of "leaving no one and no place behind." Notable projects in Masvingo include the ongoing refurbishment of the Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge highway, the construction of a 5MW mini-hydro power plant at Lake Mutirikwi, and plans for a larger plant at Tugwi-Mukosi Dam that will generate 15MW.
Additionally, the government has committed to constructing the Runde-Tende Dam in Chivi, which will be larger than Tugwi-Mukosi and will stimulate irrigation development and power generation. The Second Republic has also commissioned numerous new schools, clinics, and irrigation schemes across the country to support its goal of inclusive development.
VP Mohadi underlined the importance of quality road infrastructure as a critical enabler for development and the well-being of the population, emphasizing that roads are essential for travel, visiting loved ones, and fostering economic growth.
He made it clear that the idea of forming a GNU with the opposition was not a viable option, as it could hinder the nation's progress toward achieving Vision 2030.
In conclusion, VP Mohadi called on Zimbabweans to continue supporting Zanu-PF, emphasizing that it was the only political party in Zimbabwe with a clear and well-defined vision for moving the country forward. Under the Second Republic's leadership, Zimbabwe has achieved numerous milestones, focusing on adding value to local resources, optimizing agricultural production, and transitioning into a net food exporter while reducing the substantial import bill through import substitution.
