Misheck Ncube, a Bulawayo traditional healer, faced court charges for possessing counterfeit USD and South African Rand notes at his Cowdray Park residence.
Allegedly, Ncube deceived clients during money rituals, taking deposits of up to US$5,000 under false pretenses of multiplying their money.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Ncube and discovered counterfeit notes totaling US$14,870 and ZAR400 concealed in a plastic bag beneath a pillow in his bedroom.
In court, Ncube admitted to using the counterfeit money to exploit victims, claiming that his promises of wealth through rituals were deceitful.
He was convicted and sentenced to six months in prison, with two months suspended and four months subject to 140 hours of community service.
The counterfeit money was confiscated.
