Former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala has engaged private investigators to identify those responsible for the bombing of his Chitungwiza home, an attack he says will not deter his political mission.

The incident occurred on August 30 while Sikhala was in South Africa launching his autobiography. Speaking to NewsDay, the politician, who chairs the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), described the attack as a "primitive and archaic tactic" that had, instead, re-energised him.

"It won't work on me. I will not be silenced; I am a man on a mission," Sikhala said. "I am fighting for a Zimbabwe in which everyone enjoys their freedom."

He expressed concern for his family, noting that the attackers appeared aware he and his wife were away at the time of the attack. Sikhala also criticised the police, saying they had not updated him despite reportedly visiting the property three times in his absence.

"Up to now, we have never been updated. They have not even issued a statement, but they rush if it was other people. Soon, the truth will come out," he said.

Sikhala reiterated his commitment to advocacy, describing himself as a "voice for those who cannot speak" and vowing to continue fighting for justice and solutions to Zimbabwe's social and political challenges.

He also confirmed that his work with the NDWG is politically driven, focusing on social issues requiring political solutions, but said decisions on his political future would be made "when the time comes."

The bombing has drawn international condemnation, with the Geneva Summit for Human Rights denouncing the attack over the weekend via X (formerly Twitter).
