A Harare Zanu PF MP Terence Mukupe is mooting plans to construct a bridge across a stream in his constituency.
This he revealed through his post on Facebook.
"On location building a bridge in my constituency!!! As an MP my job is to legislate and provide oversight on the Executive but the ordinary electorate do not understand that. Given the plethora of problems in our country and the lack of funds in the Government budget, we have to resort to working with the community in carrying out infrastructure projects which is technically speaking not part of my legislative mandate," he posted.
"It's far from ideal that in this century in an urban area we are having to build bridges manually using stones but I'm not one for whining, you have to do what you have to do under the circumstances. I will be giving updates on this bridge and new road that we are going to build together with members of the community. School children at the present moment have had to take off their shoes and clothes at times to cross the river to go to school and church."
He said his vision is to have a bridge that cars can cross.
"We have already gotten culvert donations and engineering work. I refuse to accept mediocrity. I will play my part to develop my constituency," he said.
