Mat North ready to meet President
Preparations for President Emmerson Mnangagwa's star rallies in Hwange and Bubi are at an advanced stage with 5,000 people expected to attend the rally in Hwange.
This was revealed during a Zanu-PF Matabeleland North Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held at the party's provincial offices in Lupane this afternoon.
The two star rallies are set for this Friday with all the preparations nearing completion at the two venues.
The first rally will be held at Mabale in Hwange and will be attended by people from Hwange, Binga and Lupane districts.
The second rally will be held along Nkayi road and will be attended by people in Bubi, Tsholotsho, Nkayi and Umguza districts.
Heads of committees from Bubi, Lupane, Hwange and Umguza have arranged transport, food and toilet facilities, among other logistics and will be setting up chairs and tents at the two venues tomorrow (Thursday).
Zanu-PF Matabeleland North Provincial Chairman, Cde Richard Moyo called on the party leadership to continue mobilising people so that the rallies are a resounding success.
"Tomorrow let us divide each other, those provincial leaders nearer to Bubi, let us be there to assist with preparations and the same goes for Hwange, but what we want most is to have many people attending," he said.
President Mnangagwa is expected to tour the Gwayi Shangani dam project in Hwange as well as Ingwigwizi Bridge along Nkayi road.
The Gwayi-Shangani dam project, which was first approved by the cabinet of the colonial government in 1912, is still miles away from completion, while Ingwigwizi bridge has remained incomplete for more than 20 years.
