MDC99 leader Job Sikhala on Sunday challenged President Robert Mugabe to visit him at his hospital bed so that he fully appreciates the level of human rights abuses by state security agents.
He was admitted at a private hospital in Harare last week and is expected to go for an operation today for injuries sustained during his six-day ordeal in police custody.
The former MDC MP was last week granted $500 bail after he appeared at the Mutare Magistrates' Court facing kidnapping and trespassing charges.
He was immediately taken to hospital for injuries allegedly sustained during police interrogation. Sikhala said X-rays taken on Thursday revealed he had a broken bone near the spine.
