ZANU PF confronted by persons with disabilities
08 Oct 2022 at 02:11hrs | Views
ZANU PF is being taken to task by persons with disabilities who are asking the party to respect a resolution passed in 2019 which demands that persons with disabilities represent themselves at all levels.
This comes after some provinces failed to meet the directive during the Provincial elections. The party passed a resolution that persons with disabilities should represent themselves under the Secretary for disability post.
The party is now preparing for Central Committee elections and there are concerns that persons with disabilities will not be represented in the Central Committee thereby disenfranchising them in contravention of the party resolution.
Harare DCC secretary for disability and chairman of PWDs4ED said the issue of self representation is a non negotiable and persons with disabilities should be allowed to represent themselves at all levels in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
