Millytake Enterprises (Private) Limited, owned by incarcerated businessman Mike Chimombe, has appealed a High Court judgment that ordered their eviction from Eastlea offices in Harare. Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu are in remand prison on charges of fraud, accused of failing to deliver goats worth US$7 million for the Presidential Goat Scheme.
The appeal has automatically suspended the eviction order, allowing Millytake to remain in its offices. The new owner of the property, 5 Morton Jaffray Road Trust, had obtained the eviction order after previous owners failed to do so. Millytake's lawyer, Mr. Mike Chipeta, confirmed the company's continued occupancy pending the appeal's outcome.
The company, registered in 2008 and co-owned by Rusero Mitchell, specializes in commercial and industrial equipment, including construction, property development, and consulting services. Chimombe and Mpofu are currently seeking bail, with the prosecution set to present evidence from 13 witnesses, alleging that the duo forged documents to secure the tender for the Presidential Goat Scheme.
