The Zimbabwe-India relations and partnerships will compliment in realisation of upper-middle income economic status by 2030, a success projection derived from previous and present educational, training, skills transfer, among other programmes established by the two governments over the years.

Speaking during an interview this Thursday, India's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Kumar Bramha has said that educational skills, cultural exchanges and technological research developments are key in Zimbabwe's economic transition.

"Capacity building is an important pillar of our development partnership with Zimbabwe with training extending across several areas both in civilian and defence domains. India also stands with Zimbabwe in providing modern technical training and skilling in her youths," Ambassador Bramha Kumar said.

"With various training and exchange programmes between India and Zimbabwe, this will ensure knowledge and skills transfer thereby complimenting Zimbabwe's economic growth trajectory and attainment of an upper-middle income economy through improved efficiency in trade and investments," he added.

"India established 17 Indo-Zim technologies in Zimbabwe through a grant of US$ 5 million in 2008. These centres were upgraded in Phase 2 with the supply of the latest machines worth US$2.93 million and completed in 2023," Bramha Kumar added.

"Under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation programme (ITE C) scholarships, our country offers more than 250 slots to Zimbabwe under the civilian category and 36 for defence annually," he added.

Meanwhile, approximately 270 Zimbabweans including government officials are set to travel to India for training under a trainers programme focusing on manufacturing, repairing automobiles and other equipment.

The programme is part of further cementing the two countries' bilateral co-operation enhancement. It also acts as a reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthen Indo-Zim relations with special focus on co-operation in areas such as trade, investment and capacity building.
