First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has joined mourners in Mutare to bid farewell to Adrian Tavonga Gurumbadza, a courageous 13-year-old who succumbed to cancer just days after fulfilling his two final wishes - completing his Grade Seven examinations and meeting the First Lady.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Mnangagwa shared her emotional reflections following her visit to Adrian's hospital ward last week.
"His courage in the face of illness deeply touched my heart. I shared in the grief of his parents, family, and relatives, as well as the Mutare community, and comforted his classmates, while thanking God for the special bond we shared," she wrote.

Adrian, a pupil at St Joseph's Primary School, passed away shortly after achieving his dreams. The First Lady returned to the Eastern Highlands to pay her final respects, attending the burial at Yeovil Cemetery.
"As his coffin, adorned with fresh flowers, was carried to its resting place, my heart was heavy with sorrow for a young life lost too soon, yet filled with gratitude for a child whose final days were marked by the fulfillment of his dreams," she said.
Mnangagwa also laid a wreath in Adrian's memory, describing him as a beacon of resilience and hope.
"Rest in peace, Adrian; your light will never fade."
