ZANU-PF affiliate group Boyz Dzamdara has received US$60,000 from the Presidential Youth Fund Scheme to support youth empowerment projects across Zimbabwe, part of a total US$200,000 allocation from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
So far, Harare and Masvingo provinces have each received US$10,000, while Mashonaland West and Manicaland provinces have been allocated US$20,000 each. Boyz Dzamdara national chairman, Hopewell Chako, confirmed the funding during a workshop on Tuesday, noting that remaining provinces will access their allocations upon submitting project proposals.
"We are not distributing hard cash to the provinces; they submit their project proposal for evaluation and then we provide the required capital for the project," Chako said. He highlighted specific initiatives, including a piggery project in Harare, where 100 pigs were supplied along with feed to kickstart operations. In Masvingo, Manicaland, and Mashonaland West, beneficiaries received wire mesh making machines, with markets already identified for the products.
Chako described the Presidential Empowerment Fund as a "powerful engine for economic growth and transformation," aimed at fostering inclusive development that leaves no individual or community behind.
Boyz Dzamdara is also set to hold a strategic meeting in Kariba this weekend, expected to draw at least 5,000 youths, with around 500 delegates representing each province. The gathering will discuss the implementation and expansion of youth empowerment initiatives under the fund.
