President Robert Mugabe (92) is said to have received a rousing welcome from members of the December 12 Movement in New York where he will attend the 71st regular session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The state broadcaster, ZBC said a group of December 12 Movement camped at the Zimbabwe UN mission offices in New York waiving " banners praising Cde Mugabe for his wise leadership and stance against the bullying of perceived smaller nations by the so-called superpowers".

"President Mugabe has also received admiration from the December 12 Movement for his stance and continuous calls for Western nations to choose peace and tolerance instead of force and unilateralism in solving tensions, and demanding UN Security Council reforms to ensure equality and transparency of the world body," said ZBC added.

The December 12 Movement members normally send representatives during Zanu PF conferences and congresses.

However, at the weekend several videos of Black Americans confessing that they were paid to praise Mugabe went viral.

Other anti-Mugabe protests were staged in New York over the weekend.
