Zimbabweans taken for granted

Editor,
Zimbabweans have for a long time been taken for granted, their peaceful nature has been exploited for decades since independence. The citizens have gone through the worst, from gukurahundi, to Willowvale, to the Noczim scandals, to murambatswina, to 2008 elections, not to mention the economic meltdown. In many countries there could have been chaos in the least accompanied by bloodshed.
If you walk into Makombe building you will notice what I'm talking about - cattle being led to the dip are much better. The patience if our people is clearly demonstrated there. When I was younger in Bulawayo, unemployed, we would just see people digging trenches. We never knew when and where recruitment was supposed to have taken place. Even for menial unskilled jobs labour was imported without consultation or regards for locals.
The Maleme Ranch debacle should serve as an opportunity for the government and the ruling party to start taking people seriously. Consultations need to be carried out before some things take place, feasibly studies, impacts of certain actions on locals should be investigated. If this was done we wouldn't be having the security apparatus running around arresting and terrorising villagers.
