Matric pupil's deeds lands him in trouble

He and a group of classmates rely on a bus to get to school. But when the driver didn't pitch for work, they were in danger of missing their exams -- so the schoolboy got behind the wheel, and drove it himself. Le-Aan Adonis was due to write his Maths Literacy exam and he and his stranded classmates had no other way of travelling the 30 odd kilometers to class. "One boy told me he has to get to school to write this subject because it's very important to him and for me too," Adonis said. Adonis found the keys in the bus and set off with his classmates, but he was stopped by a traffic officer and fined R5,000 for driving without a licence and Professional Driving Permit. Twenty-year-old Adonis may be a criminal to the authorities, but to his classmates, he's a hero
