Despite using the shortest route for its timeous raw material distribution and chain supplies over the years, listed beverages manufacturing giant, Delta Corporation Limited, has announced political stalemate in Mozambique, currency volatility and drought as major disruptions impacting on its business performance.
Erratic business operations and political intermittence being experienced in the wake of disputed electoral outcome has hampered smooth distribution of critical supplies needed for beverages manufacturing in Zimbabwe.
Speaking in Harare this Wednesday during the 2024 Delta Corporation Analyst Briefing's half-year results business presentation, Delta Corporation Limited Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Matlhogonono Mothibedi Valela has appealed if there could be restoration of normalcy in Mozambique to enable ease of doing business and consistency in essential supplies.
"With regards to the political environment in Mozambique, we have faced some disruptions in terms of consistency in our supplies. Instead of using the shortest route through Mozambique, we are now receiving our supplies through Durban in South Africa and this has negatively caused delays and prolonged supplies because of the distance or routes involved," Matlhogonono Mothibedi Valela said.
"Currency volatility and drought have also been other aspects which impacted our business. These have affected pricing systems on the part of our products," Matlhogonono Mothibedi Valela added.
Meanwhile, Delta has announced that their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives are critical to the delivery of the company's strategy and purpose.
