Controversy over Bev's album

Newly-appointed Msasa Bricks Ambassador Beverly Sibanda is getting into the studio this week to record her second music album amid concerns she was negating her contractual agreement with her previous promoters.
While Bev signed a five-year contract with Discovery Records, she has reportedly left the stable and is working with another studio.
Her manager Harpers Mapimhidze told the Daily News the ground work is set for the album and Bev as Sibanda is affectionately known in the showbiz will feature Botswana musician Ogomoditse Mokenti and one of the country's dancehall stars most probably in the form of Shinsoman or Soul Jah Love on the project.
"We are getting into the studio on Thursday when our producer Dr Tawanda (Tawanda Kasaira) comes back from Botswana where he is recording the Botswana artiste.
"Everything is ready and the album's title will be announced later.
"We are hoping the album will be released in October," he said.
However, Discovery Records officials are breathing fire saying Sibanda is breaching a five-year-contract she had with the studio.
"We signed a five-year-contract with Bev last year which prevents her from recording music with other studios.
"Discovery Records hires producers such as Dr Tawanda for the job and we also have another contract with music producers which stops them from working with our artistes behind our back, hence Dr Tawanda is also liable for breaching the contract," said Discovery Records general manager Patrick Kanyama.
Kanyama said they were planning to work on Sibanda's debut album Tapinda DVD but both Sibanda and her manager were nowhere to be seen.
"We recorded her first album Tapinda and we are aiming to recover our money by making a DVD but only to hear that Bev is working behind our back.
"We are going to engage the law on this issue," said the official.
Mapimhidze expressed ignorance about the contract saying Discovery Records are only promoters and they never signed anything of that nature.
"Those guys are only promoters and we are not aware about what they are saying," he said.
Sibanda announced her arrival into the music industry with the album Tapinda which featured South African musician Freddy Gwala on the song Tshaingoma and Congolese chanter Gift Katulika aka Shiga Shiga.
The song Tshaingoma was voted on number 27 in the 2013 edition of the National FM Top 50 on New Year's Eve.
