The late President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez who succumbed to cancer on March 5 at the age of 58 has been laid to rest.
Chavez was laid to rest at a military museum after an emotional journey around the streets of Caracas that saw hundreds of thousands of people gathering to pay their last respect.
Venezuelan officials have ruled out embalming Chavez but said his body will be left for a permanent public display in a similar fashion as that of Lenin.
The museum housing Chavez's body will be open to the public as from today and the government expects it to become a "place of pilgrimage for the world's revolutionaries."

Friends and family members joined government and army officials yesterday in escorting the coffin as it arrived at Chavez's final resting place.
