A Harare man, Samuel Nyika, refuted paternity claims for his two minor children, one of whom is nine years old, when his former wife, Gain Mukundwa, sought financial support for their upbringing.
Nyika expressed his intention to undergo a paternity test before committing to parental responsibilities.
Mukundwa demanded US$200 monthly for the children's care. Nyika asserted that he had been informed by friends in the past that he might not be the biological father.
He also mentioned an incident where Mukundwa accused him of infertility during an argument, a claim she denied.
Mukundwa accused Nyika of attempting to evade his duties as a parent. The court ordered Nyika to contribute US$60 per month towards the children's maintenance.
