The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has processed a total of 804 building plans in August 2025, approving 140 of them with a combined value of US$3,390,282, according to the latest council minutes from the Building Control section.

The report states that 390 plans completed the review process during the month. Of these, 140 were approved, while 250 were referred back for corrections and 148 forwarded to other departments for further assessment.

The council noted a 51.72% decrease in approved plans compared to July 2025. However, submissions surged, with 252 new building plans valued at US$6,490,037 received in August - marking a 20.29% increase from the previous month.

"A possible total of US$6,490,037 was therefore raised from plan submissions as plan submission fees," the minutes read.

The Building Control section also conducted 1,666 inspections, reflecting a 0.54% increase from July. From these inspections:

- 31 buildings were issued with occupation certificates
- 100 dilapidated buildings were recorded
- A total of US$15,161.15 was raised from inspections and related activities

The council continues to monitor building activity as part of its urban development and compliance strategy.
