Married couple jailed in Bulawayo drug bust

A married couple has been jailed by the Bulawayo Magistrates' Court after police recovered dagga and cocaine worth over ZIG 245,000 from their vehicle and home.
Darian‑Lee Kevin Lloyd Jackson, 31, and Lakim‑Lee Robinson, 32, were arrested on 18 July 2025 following a police operation. Detectives intercepted the pair in a parked vehicle at the corner of 12th Avenue and Josiah Tongogara Street.
A search uncovered dagga sachets, dagga cigarettes and cocaine.
Police then searched their West Somerton residence, where they found large quantities of loose dagga stored in buckets, more sachets prepared for distribution, and drug‑packaging equipment including pocket scales and heat‑sealing machines.
In total, officers recovered 9 kilogrammes of dagga valued at ZIG 240,000 and 5 grammes of cocaine valued at ZIG 5,400.
Jackson pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years' imprisonment, with two years suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour. He will serve an effective four years.
Robinson was convicted after a full trial and sentenced to six years, with three years suspended for five years. She will serve an effective three years.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said the case highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle drug networks.
"Individuals engaged in the distribution and possession of dangerous drugs will face the full wrath of the law," the NPAZ said in a statement.
