Zimbabwe will not slow down its diplomatic offensive in the region, the continent and beyond since sovereignty is best enjoyed while existing amongst a family of nations.

This was said by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Retired Lieutenant General Dr Sibusiso Moyo while addressing 42 officers in the ministry who successfully completed a pre-deployment diplomatic training course.

In his address to the officers, Retired Lieutenant General Moyo underscored the importance of continuing on the path of reengagement with the international community.

"This is why we chose to engage the UK. If there is a smile between us then there may be a smile on those who have chosen to get angry on her behalf," said Dr Moyo.

Dr Moyo commended the solid relations between Zimbabwe and its regional allies highlighting that the new dispensation has set the tone for closer cooperation through the visits by President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa to all regional players.

"When the new dispensation took over His Excellency visited each SADC head of state; then it was Ramaphosa (President Cyril) …; it has become a chemistry, even as we went for the SADC summit presidents chat and laugh with one another talking about issues," he said.

Dr. Moyo said the chemistry that binds Mnangagwa and regional heads of state should guide the conduct of the 42 officers who will soon be leaving for various diplomatic missions.

The officers were tasked with facilitating the ease of doing business for Zimbabweans in the Diaspora.

Officers due for deployment include deputy directors, executive assistants and accounting assistants amongst others.
