Man tries to rape niece

An attempt to rape a niece by a Mvurwi man landed him in big trouble after he was remanded in custody by Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro on Friday.

Descent Chiku (20) pleaded not guilty to the attempted rape charge and was remanded in custody to 17 September 2018.

The state led by public prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi alleges that on 4 September around 2200hrs Chiku was sent to follow his niece who had a misunderstanding with her mother in the bush area of Masasa farm in Mvurwi.

The accused ran and finally caught up with the complainant and tried to convince her to go back home but she refused.

Chiku finally gave up and turned his back towards the complainant and walked two steps before changing his mind.

He is reported to have told the complainant that he would not return back without having unprotected sex with the complainant.

Chiku allegedly grabbed the complainant by the collar pulled her slack down before pulling out his manhood in a bid to penetrate her.

The complainant is said to have screamed for help while Chiku was on top of her, thereby attracting the attention of nearby villagers who came to her rescue.

The accused reportedly varnished in the dark and the complainant rushed to the police station to file a report leading to the arrest of Chiku the following day.
