Teachers drink kachasu in class

Two Guruve teachers appeared before Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro today for reportedly drinking illicit beer (kachasu) in class.
The state alleges that on 3 August last year Hardlife Ziuchi (41) and Letmore Dambajena (38) were drinking the beer while conducting lessons.
The beer was said to have been brought by one of the students who was sent to buy it at a nearby village.
One of the students alerted their school head about the pair's mischief and he came to the spot where he found the bottle of kachasu hidden in a cardboard box.
The head ordered the teachers to write a report confirming that they were drinking at work.
In their defence, the duo told the court that their head was fixing them on political grounds since they differ.
"Your worship this case has turned to be political, our school head does not want us there hence he is fabricating all sorts of stories," they said.
The matter continues on 24 September. Spiwe Makarichi represented the state.
