Commander Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Lieutenant General David Sigauke has commended the corporate world for supporting their rehabilitation centre.
Tsanga Lodge is the forces' rehabilitation center, where members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and other security forces injured in the line of duty receive treatment and skills training to suit their changed situations.
In a speech read on his behalf by Brigadier General Kingstone Cherechedzai Kazambara last week, Gen Sigauke applauded donors for donating of food, beverages, toiletries, blankets worth thousands of dollars to Tsanga Lodge. The donation comes as a way to reinvigorate the spirits of patients at the institution.
"Tsanga Lodge is an icon of sublime distinction in its role of treating and rehabilitating our sick, injured and disabled colleagues. The institution is a beacon of hope to broken hearts and spirits, and promises a bright future for all our colleagues under its care, treatment and reskilling. We will forever acknowledge and cherish the contributions our injured and disabled colleagues made towards the security, peace and development of our nation," he said.
General Sigauke paid tribute to the immense contributions by the injured and the disabled soldiers towards security, peace and development of the nation as they sacrificed their personal safety, security and comfort.
He also said the disabled should never be left behind in national development programme,s rather, they should be active game changers on the socio-economic development front and topography, and participate in the long march towards the realisation of Vision 2030.
"They should believe in their capacity for self-actualization and transforming their lives beyond recognition, even as we wish them well, there should be a starting point, and this is where donations such as the one we are receiving today play a pivotal and underpinning role of creating and maintaining an enabling social economic environment."
The centre runs a thriving carpentry project that produces furniture for the rehabilitation centre.
The Tsanga Lodge board of trustees expressed great appreciation to individuals and corporate bodies that donated to the centre.
Over the past years, donors have contributed significantly in cash and kind to the centre. The centre is registered with the Zimbabwe Association for People Living with Disabilities.
