Nicaraguan President congratulates Mnangagwa on his re-election

Nicaraguan President, Daniel Ortega Saavedra, has congratulated his counterpart, President Emmerson Mnangagwa on his re-election in the August 23 presidential elections.

In a congratulatory message, President Saavedra saluted the people of Zimbabwe for voting for President Mnangagwa.

"From our blessed and always free Nicaragua, with respect and recognition, we salute you, the people and government of Zimbabwe, and the ZANU-PF party, for the electoral victory achieved in the presidential elections of that sister nation.

"We congratulate the brave people of Zimbabwe and convey our best wishes for success, peace, prosperity, and good living in this new period of government, reiterating our unwavering commitment to continue strengthening the fraternal bonds of solidarity and brotherhood that unite our peoples and governments. With the affection and respect of the Nicaraguan people for the people of Zimbabwe," President Saavedra said.

President Saavedra expressed his confidence that the two countries would continue to work together to promote peace, development, and cooperation in the region.

"We are confident that the friendly relations between our two countries will continue to grow and strengthen in the years to come," said President Saavedra.

President Mnangagwa was re-elected with 52.6 percent of the votes, defeating his main challenger, Nelson Chamisa, who received 44 percent of the votes.

The victory was a major boost for President Mnangagwa, who has been given another chance to continue with his development agenda.

Meanwhile, yesterday President Mnangagwa swore in his new cabinet, made up of a mix of experienced and new faces, which is expected to steer his vision for the next five years.

The new cabinet is tasked with implementing President Mnangagwa's economic recovery plan, which is focused on attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, and improving the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.
