Maize meal thief jailed two years

A 29-year-old maize meal thief from Plumtree was jailed two years after he stole a 50-kilogram maize meal bag and a bicycle to carry the loot.

Kwenzakele Mathe was sentenced to 30 months in jail by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

Nembaware suspended six months on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard that on September 12 at Mhlotsane Business Centre, Mangwe, the convict unlawfully entered Sandile Sithole's premises and stole a bag of maize meal.

He also stole Patience Ncube's shoes and a bicycle, which he used to carry the loot and vanished.
