A villager in the Swazi area of Esigodini, Matabeleland South, is mourning the loss of two cattle after unidentified rustlers raided their kraal, drove away three beasts, and slaughtered two in a nearby bush.

Sources from the village identified the affected farmer as Herold Ndlovu.

Mrs. Ndlovu explained that the thieves broke into their kraal, drove away three cattle, and slaughtered two behind a neighbouring homestead belonging to a villager named Costa.

"There was serious damage in our kraal last night (Sunday). Thieves broke in, took three cattle, and slaughtered two behind Costa's homestead. Some hunters saw the thieves and tried to catch them, but they ran away and left all the meat. They also axed and broke the leg of the third beast, which managed to escape. It's heartbreaking - we really don't know what to do anymore. This is too much," Mrs. Ndlovu said.

Another villager confirmed that Ndlovu was the latest victim of the rustlers and urged the community to remain vigilant.

"This happened at Ndlovu's kraal. Everyone must be alert and safeguard their livestock. You may be keeping cattle for other people. These days, they even raid them in their pans - it's really bad," the villager said.

The suspects remain at large. Villagers said the matter was reported to Esigodini police, who are still investigating.
