Social media personality Josephine Mutongi has been arrested for allegedly failing to account for more than US$1,000 meant to assist families affected by the Kuwadzana Extension tragedy.

Police confirmed that investigations into the matter are underway. According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Mutongi faces multiple charges, including fraud and incitement of public demonstrations.

"She failed to surrender part of the funeral contributions deposited into her personal account," said Commissioner Nyathi, adding that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Mutongi also had a confrontation with a family from Kuwadzana Extension after allegedly using their home address without permission. The family was reportedly shocked to learn that Mutongi had provided their address, allegedly in an attempt to evade arrest.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related development, Anymore Muzanago, the father of the two children who were tragically found dead in the trunk of a vehicle, has received community support. Taurai Mauka, a member of the ruling party, and his wife have donated a 300-square-meter residential stand in Kuwadzana 5 to the grieving father.

Muzanago had earlier indicated his desire to relocate, saying the sight of the car where his children were found continued to haunt his family. Police have since confirmed that the vehicle remains secured at the car park as investigations continue.
